Bonsall History

Henry L. Bonsall was the founder of the Camden Daily Post, the forerunner if the current newspaper. He was editor of the paper until his death in 1900. he also was Camden City's Superintendent of public instruction - a title that was changed to Superintendent of Schools. Our school on Mount Ephraim Avenue is named for the journalist. The prekindergarten thourgh 8th-grade school first opended in September 1914.

The poet Walt Whitman was a contemporary of Henry Bonsall. When he came to Camden, the beatiful parks and rivers inspired him to write many verses of beatiful poetry and prose
